Special Announcement: The Launch of Something Beautiful
This week, we take a monumental step in creating A Better Cobb. In July, we are celebrating with an Epic Launch Party!
This week is a milestone that we have been working towards for years!
When I (this is Matt here…) started A Better Cobb a few years ago, it was just a discord server and a Facebook Group. It was an idea that we needed to start coming together and having our voices heard to make our community better.
It was a group FOR solutions and progress to combat the voices that so often participate in public discussion.
(Technically it was an evolution from Cobb 4 Transit as I realized that we had so many more issues we need to advocate for…)
After attending meetings, hosting events, and having conversations with hundreds of our neighbors, we realized that we needed to do more to truly make a difference in our community. In April, we established our Board of Directors and organized as a 501c4 organization, Cobb For Everyone, Inc.
Our next step is to launch and build the community for sustainable advocacy and growth today and in the future.
This is our true launch. And we need YOU.
Our dream is a happier, healthier, friendlier Cobb County. More public transit. More sidewalks. More safe bicycle connections. Better land use. More attainable housing. More fiscally sustainable growth practices. More third places.
With big plans like these, we need resources that go directly to the outreach, education, engagement, and research activities necessary to make the changes we want. Remember, we are battling against decades of entrenched “status quo”.
We are so excited to finally launch the ABC Membership Program that gives you an opportunity to be a direct contributor to our efforts to build a community that makes A Better Cobb.

An Epic Launch deserves an Epic Party
We only get one time to celebrate our launch, and we’re having an awesome party to celebrate.
DJ. Toast. Food. Drinks. Celebration. Cake. Glitter. Flying Unicorns.
Okay, maybe I got a LITTLE carried away there.
But for real- we have an awesome party planned to celebrate our launch on Sunday, July 27th from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Here’s some of the fun activities planned:
Meet A Better Cobb Board, Volunteers, and other Members
Launch Celebration & Toast
Share your ideas about A Better Cobb
Get your Member SWAG (or at least the stuff we can order in time)
Photo Booth
Food and Drinks
Tickets to the event are $20 for non-members and $10 for members (you will get the discount code once you become a member).

Our goal is to have at least 150 members before our Launch Party (capacity of the event space is 200, so let’s fill it up and show that we have a community that wants A Better Cobb!)

Frequently Asked Questions
Why are you raising money?
Great question. To be honest, after years of advocating as a grassroots effort, we realized that if we really wanted to see our vision of A Better Cobb in our lifetimes, we needed to get serious. To do that, we launched recently as a non-profit, and this funding will go towards our efforts in creating content, hosting events, building a network of advocates, and our research and policy initiatives.
Where does this money go?
We are still a new non-profit in the formative stages. Some of this money will go towards organizational and operational support, but the majority of funds will go directly back into supporting our advocacy initiatives. We will be transparent in our funds and will be releasing quarterly and annual reports about our spending and impacts.
When will I get my SWAG?
Once we get the necessary funding, we will be placing the orders. Our goal is to have all of the SWAG items at the Launch Party in late July. Due to logistics and costs, shipping will need to be handled on a case-by-case basis.
What’s the Membership Process?
Easy! You join as a member and then we send you a follow up form to get some more details from you so that you can match you up with other advocates in your city or neighborhood!
What is Zeffy?
Zeffy is the fundraising platform that we are using to manage our membership program and donations. It gives 100% of the funds raised directly to our organization and gives you the option to support their platform as a separate line-item. We encourage you to chip in a little because that’s an awesome feature for small non-profits like ours. Please also make sure you green-light emails from Zeffy in your email provider.
What will happen to this Substack?
We will continue this Substack newsletter focused on Cobb County Board of Commissioners meetings for now, but will be launching city-focused newsletters and other communications through the Zeffy platform.
Any other questions, just email abettercobb@gmail.com and we will get back to you!
Thank you for being a part of A Better Cobb and we hope you join us in our efforts to make Cobb a happier, healthier, friendlier place and community.
-Matt
